Annual LKN Lymphoedema Management Scholarship

new LKN Logo.jpg

There is a significant lack of lymphoedema training for health professionals in LF- and podoconiosis-endemic countries.

Some regions have no allied health personnel available at all, and even in major cities the specialised knowledge needed for proper lymphoedema management is usually absent.

The capacity building remit within the LKN Strategic Plan is achieved through sponsorship of health professionals to achieve a suitable level of training.

Our goal is to accrue a $125,000 perpetual fund which can be used to cover travel and accommodation costs for health workers to gain the knowledge they need to manage lymphoedema in their local community.

Donations to date have provided a solid foundation on which to build the fund. Your monthly or yearly contribution or bequest will go directly to build the fund and distribute the scholarship.

Our past Scholarship Recipients

Adrian Lim is a Philippine Physio who first saw the need for lymphoedema training when his grandmother developed cancer-related lymphoedema.

Adrian was the 2023 scholarship recipient and since training in Perth has given multiple lectures and seminars to Health Professionals and Institutions.

Adrian has identified several LF-endemic regions and is working with the LKN Compression Group to bring lymphoedema management to these communities.

Dr Jonalisa Tapumanaia was our 2024 scholarship recipient and has taken lymphoedema management back to her remote island in Samoa, allowing people to receive treatment locally rather than travel long distances to find specialised care.
